SWRL is a guided wine tasting app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Account information. When you sign in with Apple we receive an anonymous Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address. We never receive your Apple password.
Photographs. Photos you take of wine labels are uploaded to our storage and kept with your tasting record. See "How long we keep things" below — photo retention works differently from the rest of your data.
Tasting records. What you record during a tasting: colour, aroma selections, palate ratings, star rating, one-word impression, whether you'd buy it again, and any free-text notes you write.
Your palate profile. A profile derived from your tastings — averages across sweetness, acidity, tannin, body and oak, plus the aromas that appear most often in wines you rate highly. This is computed from your tasting records, not collected separately.
Diagnostic data. When the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a report containing the error, the device model, the OS version and the app version.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, we receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple. We never see your payment details.
We do not use advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your personal information. We do not build advertising profiles. SWRL contains no third-party advertising.
We use these providers, and they only receive what they need:

Please note: your bottle photographs are sent to OpenAI to be read. We send only the image and no information identifying you.
We do not share your personal information with anyone else, and we do not sell it.
Your account, tasting records and palate profile are kept until you delete your account.
Photographs are treated differently, and we want to be direct about it. In addition to storing your photos with your tastings, we may retain wine label images to improve label recognition in SWRL — building a reference library that helps the app identify wines more accurately over time. Images used this way are stripped of any connection to your account.
If you delete your account, all photographs linked to your account are deleted from our storage.
Open Settings → Delete account in the app. This permanently removes your account, every tasting, your palate profile and every photo you have uploaded. It cannot be undone. Deletion happens immediately; there is no waiting period and no "soft delete".

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. The in-app deletion above covers deletion. For anything else, email swrlwine@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in the EU or UK, our lawful basis is performance of a contract (to provide the app) and legitimate interests (to keep it working and secure).
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your session token is stored in the iOS Keychain. Photographs are stored in a private bucket that isn't publicly readable — the app requests a short-lived signed link each time an image is displayed.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise.
SWRL is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age in their country, and never for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, email swrlwine@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for anything material, notify you in the app.
